ELLEVATOR PARTY TRICK
Ontario-based trio Ellevator have dropped a new single in the form of ‘Party Trick’. “"A friend said to me that being in a band means never growing up,” the band explain of the track’s lyrics. “It’s easy to feel like Peter Pan on tour, all the trappings of adulthood a hundred truck stops and a thousand miles in the rearview. I started writing this song to my teenage self: a flighty, insecure kid posturing confidence.” Musically, this is a laid-back track that crafts a warm hug of a texture through its distant guitar work, insistent piano pedal notes and enchanting lead vocal. Their ability to craft melodramatic soundscapes that take influence from everyone from indie heavyweights Arcade Fire to stadium-rock giants like U2 is seriously impressive. Be on the lookout for their album, The Words You Spoke Still Move Me, when it drops on May 6th, 2022. -Dan Peeke
